FAQ

Frequently asked Questions

IS THE DEPOSIT REFUNDABLE?

No. The purpose of the deposit is to hold your date until the day of the wedding. After a retainer (deposit) is paid in full, the date is not available to be booked by anyone else. If you choose to cancel your date for any reason, or decide to forgo services with me, the deposit will be forfeited. The amount of the deposit is applied to the final balance.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I shoot with a Canon 5d Mark IV and corresponding Cannon lenses. I also shoot with a Mamiya 645 (a medium format film camera) at every engagement session and wedding.

CAN WE GET ALL OF THE UNEDITED (RAW) PHOTOS FROM OUR WEDDING?

No, sorry.

HOW LONG UNTIL I GET TO SEE MY PHOTOS? HOW MANY DO WE GET?

Wait times slightly vary depending on the package, however, I generally deliver within 6 weeks of your wedding date. In terms of the amount of photos delivered, I usually deliver between 500 & 1200 photos. All weddings are different, therefore the amount of images shot during the day can vary slightly. Depending on things like the size of the wedding, size of the bridal party, the amount of time I’m alloted for bride & groom portraits, the length of the ceremony, whether another shooter is present, etc. all typically impact the final number of images.

DOES THE PHOTOGRAPHER OWN THE RIGHTS TO THE PHOTOS?

Yes. This means that you cannot sell the photos for profit or use them for personal portfolio purposes. You will be granted unlimited “usage rights,” so you can post photos to Facebook, share with family & friends, and print as many photos as you'd like, however, I hold copyright to every photos taken on the day. I also give you permission to make copies of the flash drive (if your package includes one) and back the photos up.

DO YOU TRAVEL? WHAT DOES IT COST FOR YOU TO TRAVEL?

YES, I love to travel! I have an up-to-date passport and am willing to go just about anywhere for a wedding. If travel is local (within 40 miles of Sacramento) I do not require overnight accommodations, however, please inquire about specific costs regarding travel outside of 40 miles or out of state. Usually, all travel is covered by the bride & groom, including but not limited to, airline tickets, hotels, car rentals, ferry tickets, tolls etc. If your wedding is taking place further than 40 miles from Sacramento, I require a 2-night stay — the night before and the night of the wedding.

WHO IS THE SECOND SHOOTER?

My second shooter varies between a couple of different professional weddingphotographers in the Sacramento community. I always work with others who have a similar style to me, and I never “hire” anyone I wouldn’t trust with my own wedding. The photos from the second are always passed to me to edit and deliver to clients — so I touch every single one of the photos with my own post processing. I think having two shooters is a wonderful investment and extremely helpful in times when where the bride and groom are getting ready in two separate areas, getting two angles walking down the aisle, extra coverage during the reception, etc. and especially in cases of large weddings.

DO YOU POST ALL OF THE WEDDINGS THAT YOU PHOTOGRAPH ONLINE?

I do my best to blog and/or post all photos on my blog, given the bride + grooms permission, however during the middle of wedding season, I don't always have time to post all weddings.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS RAINING ON OUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION OR WEDDING DAY?

I love the rain and have the proper equipment to protect my gear, so the rain does not scare me! I encourage you to have jackets and umbrellas on hand so we are not limited to shoot indoors, and being out shooting in the rain is totally up to you. If you are up for it, I will be too! However, if it’s an absolute downpour during your engagement shoot, I’m happy to reschedule to a different date, granted both parties are available.

CAN WE EDIT ANY OF THE PHOTOS WE RECEIVE?

No, sorry. If you choose to book me as your engagement and/or wedding photographer, I am assuming you like my overall editing style. I spend countless hours/days/weeks editing each session that I photograph, making sure they are consistent with my brand. All of the photos you get will be edited to reflect the style of my work and will be print ready.
